Something unforgettable happened at Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria
As we joined Ganiyu Oladayo in bringing boxing to the streets to raise awareness against drug abuse, we noticed a young boy, under the bridge, hawking, watching, listening… and refusing to leave.
He stood there from beginning to end. Every speech. Every demonstration. Every moment of hope is shared.
When our African Coordinator finished speaking, this young boy quietly walked up and said: “Sir… one day, I will be a champion.”
We spoke with him. And in that moment, the truth hit us:
Behind every struggling child on the streets… there is a dream waiting to be heard.
He told us he wants to go to school. He wants to become a lawyer someday. And when he saw the @wbcboxing Championship Belt in our hands, his eyes widened:
“I like that belt… it looks like greatness.”
The boy said.
And that is why we ALWAYS carry this WBC Belt with us to the streets, not as decoration, but as a symbol of possibility.
A reminder that:
💛 Champions come from places people least expect. 💛 Your environment is not your destiny. 💛 Your dream is valid, no matter where you were born.
At Gloves for Africa founded by Chuks Uwaechia, this is our mission:
To show these young ones that their community is NOT a barrier… that with discipline, focus, consistency, and perseverance, Impossible Doesn’t Exist.
But we cannot do this work alone.
Thousands of kids like him are on the streets every day, hawking, struggling, fighting silent battles… yet holding onto big dreams.
We need more partners. More supporters. More people who believe these children deserve a chance.
If you’d like to support, through equipment, sponsorship, or collaboration, please reach out. Together, we can change more lives… one glove, one child, one dream at a time.
Gloves for Africa Changing Stories. Changing Communities. Changing Futures.
